 Brazilian federal police are worried and are reporting that over 200 
Ghanaian citizens who came to watch the on going World Cup have 
requested asylum after entering the country on tourist visa. The 
Ghanaians are begging for Brazilian citizenship claiming that they are 
muslims fleeing inter-religious conflicts in Ghana, and have filed 
applications in the city of Caxias do Sul.<br /><br />Police reports further
 revealed that 1000 more Ghanaians are expected to request refugee 
status once the games end on Sunday July 13th! They are all believed to 
be looking for rights to work legally in the country. A police official 
who spoke on BBC said;</span></span><br />

<i><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">“Asylum
 cannot be requested at a Brazilian embassy. The asylum seeker must be 
in the country to apply. We have hundreds of Syrian refugees in Brazil 
at the moment in the same situation.”</span></span></i><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span></blockquote>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />Reacting
 to this development, a Ghanaian Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has issued a
 statement denying any such religious attack. His statement reads in

 basis for this alleged request is completely false as no religious 
conflicts is taking place in Ghana. Ghana’s mission in Brazil has been

'I Need Money, Pay Me More And I Will Stay' - Keshi Tells NFF

Out of contract Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has given conditions that would make him consider if he will continue as coach of the national team.<br /><br />Keshi who led Nigeria to yet another round of 16 finish at the world cup after 20 years, revealed that he was ready to move on, if he was not given better conditions to work as Nigerian coach. He added that he has several offers including that of South Africa, which, according to him is most likely to happen.<br /><br />He submitted that he would very much love to continue with the “Nigerian project” he has started: “But  if the offer isn’t good enough for me, then I will explore other options and possibly move on to another challenge. (Photo by Clive Mason - FIFA/FIFA<br /><br />However, in considering the Nigerian job, Keshi said that there must have to be changes in the way the Nigerian Football Federation relates to coaches under it’s employ.<br /><br />“Well for starters, my previous contract was never respected. I was paying one of my assistants (Valere Houandonou) for over a year, my former assistant Sylvanus Okpala was sacked without my consent and those things just never made sense.<br /><br />“I mean Nigeria is my country and I love my country, but I’m out of contract now so I have to move on. I have spent over two years as coach of Nigeria, and Nigeria flows in my veins but I just have to move on.<br />“If the offer comes, we will sit down and talk and if there’s something concrete, then we’ll see how it goes.  I have several offers but it’s South Africa that have been very vocal about their offer, so that’s the way it is.<br /><br />“ I’ve given my heart to Nigeria, I have done it for the country for years. I played as a captain of the national team for 14years so this isn’t about heart anymore. It’s now about professionalism, I am a professional football coach and that is all I do. I have kids in the university that I have to feed and I can’t do that by ‘heart’. Doing the ‘heart’ thing cannot work anymore, because that isn’t going to put food on my table,” Keshi quipped as he chatted with SL10.</div>

believes her model daughter will only rest following the outcome of the 
trial.<br /><br />June Steenkamp says she doesn’t hate the paralympian – who
 fatally shot her daughter, 29, through a closed toilet cubicle in his 
home in Pretoria, South Africa in the early hours of February 14 last 
year – but believes she won’t rest until a verdict has been reached.<br />She
 told Britain’s Hello! magazine: “I don’t hate Oscar. I’ve forgiven him.
 I have to, that’s my religion. But I am determined to face him and 
reclaim my daughter. “It’s important for him to know that I’m there, 
that Reeva’s mother who gave birth to her and loved her, is there for 
her.”I feel her presence and talk to her all the time.”<br /><br />June 
added that her faith has helped her through the traumatic trial and just
 wants to discover the truth about what happened to her daughter.<br /><br />She said: “I trust that god will prevail and justice will be done. All we want is the truth.”<br /><br />The
 27-year-old athlete – who was recently ruled fit to stand trial 
following a month of psychological assessments – has denied deliberately
 murdering the model, insisting he acted in self-defence in the mistaken
 belief she was an intruder.<br /><br />If found guilty of murder, Pistorius
 could face life in jail, or 15 years in prison if the court finds him 
guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.</span></span>

Senate President, David Mark, got a taste of the national football team camp when he held a meeting with the Super Eagles in Campinas before their<br /><br />match against Iran in Group F of the 2014 World Cup on Monday.<br />Mark, who led the Federal Government delegation to the World Cup in Brazil, demanded to hear the players’ grievances with the aim of settling the rift between them and the NFF over their bonus. <br />

    The players asked Mark to pay them $2m immediately from the $8m NFF was expecting from FIFA for the first round matches since he was the third in authority in Nigeria and representing the President. The players maintained that they should get 25 per cent of the money.<br /><br />    The players insisted that they must receive their money before their match against Iran, which eventually ended 0-0 in Curitiba.<br /><br />    When it became obvious that the players were not moved by his presence, the Senate President allegedly became angry…</blockquote>
<br /><br />It was learnt that after the players had spoken, coach Stephen Keshi later apologised to the FG delegation and the NFF members at the meeting.<br /><br />
According to the Punch, Keshi’s apology was received half-heartedly by Mark and NFF officials led by Aminu Maigari as they had expected him to step in much earlier.<br /><br />
“Keshi did apologise but that was met with subdued hisses from those at the meeting,” an official, who pleaded anonymity, said.<br /><br />
The FIFA money fight is a carryover from their USA camp as they had put the NFF on notice over the money before agreeing to board the flight to Brazil. But why is NFF always trying to embezzle the funds provided for the players?

<strong>Super
 Eagles’ defender Joseph Yobo is going to become Nigeria’s first player 
who will get into the prestigious FIFA exclusive 100 international 
appearances.</strong><br />
<br />
With strong indications that Yobo will be 
featured in tomorrow’s game with Argentina, he will be making his 99th 
appearance in proper grade A match. One more match, possibly in the 
Round of 16, Yobo will clock 100.<br />
<br />
Already, along with goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who is also approaching 100 caps, Yobo is playing in his third World Cup.<br />
<br />
Yobo made his debut with the Super Eagles on March 24, 2001 in a 2002 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia in Chingola.<br />
<br />
Nigeria
 pulled a 1-1 draw to ease to Mali 2002. Until the moment he sustained 
injury in a Nigeria versus Benin match at the 2010 Africa Nations Cup in
 Angola, he held the record of playing every minute of Nigeria’s Africa 
Nations Cup matches from Mali 2002 through Tunisia 2004, Egypt 2006 and 
Ghana 2008.<br />
<br />
It was only at the second match of the 2010 Africa 
Nations Cup that he was first substituted after a straight 23 Africa 
Nations Cup matches including two that stretched into extra time.<br />
It was in the 24th match he was first substituted.<br />
<br />
Though
 seen as a rookie who was having his third cap in the Super Eagles, Yobo
 was handed the task of marking the renowned George Weah who had been 
the World Footballer of the Year 1996 as well as that of Africa and 
Europe.<br />
<br />
Yobo did a yeoman’s job. A player who graduated as a 
Flying Eagles’ attacker to play a defensive role in the senior side, he 
was wonderful playing from the right hand side.<br />
<br />
Yobo scored his 
first goal for Nigeria in the 2003 LG Cup final against Cameroon in 
Lagos. He also scored the only goal in the 2006 World Cup qualifier 
against Algeria in Abuja.<br />
<br />
His goals were also crucial in Nigeria’s
 march to South Africa 2010 World Cup. Yobo scored the lone goal in the 
away duels with Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea.
