 case is very unique. She was born to a Catholic father and a deeper 
life mother. She got married to a Redeemed Church member and now she has
 left Christianity over what she termed ‘Religious confusion’.<br /><br />On
 why she converted to Islam, Fareedah said; “it is a personal decision. I
 understand the Koran more than the bible. All of a sudden, the 
Christian confusion was driving me nuts. My dad was catholic, my mum was
 Deeper Life, I married someone in the Redeemed Church and then all of a
 sudden, the few religions had something bad to say about each other. I 
just couldn’t take it anymore. A friend of mine who is close to me said 
that once you are grounded on the word, it wont be confusing. 
Unfortunately, maybe I wasn’t grounded in the word, but I still could 
see what I see. But in my quest and study and research, I don’t know: I 
was probably looking for peace. Yeah! That was what I was looking for 
and I found it in the Koran.”<br /><br /><b>2) Liz DaSilva now Aishat</b><br /><br />Her
 case is very similar to Lizzy Anjorin, she dated Oshodi Boss, MC Oluomo
 for a while before eloping with younger Muslim guy. She claimed she 
change her religion for the sake of her son whom she named Roheem.<br /><br />She got married to Olaoye last year and adopted the Muslim name Aishat.<br /><b><br />3) Laide Bakare</b><br /><br />After
 she broke up with her Christian husband over marital problem, she 
eloped with a Lagos-based wealthy Alhaji Tunde Orilowo aka ATM, she then
 converted to Islam.<br /><br />Laide Bakare just like her contemporaries, 
embarked on the holy pilgrimage courtesy her man and has since remained a
 converted Muslim.<br /><br />She has joined Alhaji Orilowo’s fleet of wives. As we speak, the man is on the run over a fraud case with EFCC.<br /><br /><b>4) Moji Olaiya</b><br /><br />The latest on the conversion radar is Moji Olaiya.<br /><br />She
 was born to a Christian father and mother. She is the son of veteran 
singer Victor Olaiya. Moji Olaiya reportedly dumped her three children 
with her husband and walked out of the marriage over what she called 
spousal abuse.<br /><br />The actress said she found the religion quite peaceful, thus, her resolve to convert.<br /><br />In
 her words, “Honestly, Islam is a peaceful religion. The aspect I love 
most is that you don’t need any pastor to get closer to God. You don’t 
really need anybody to pray for you. You can always pray on your own and
 Almighty Allah will answer your prayer without any intermediary. I have
 been doing that since I became a Muslim and it has always worked for 
me.”<br /><br /><b>5) Lizzy Anjorin now Aishat</b><br /><br />The popular Yoruba
 actress and movie producer was born into a Christian family but she 
shocked her fans when she suddenly made a trip to Islamic holy land 
Mecca in Saudi Arabia for Hajj last year.<br /><br />Quickly adopting the 
Islamic dress sense, Liz insists she has always been a Muslim all along 
but not known to many people who perceived her as a Christian even 
though she has nothing against been a Christian.<br /><br />Prior to her conversion, she was rumoured to be dating an Alhaji introduced to her by MC Oluomo, NURTW boss in Oshodi, Lagos.<br /><br />On
 why she chose Islam, Lizzy said “Actually, my conversion to Islam is 
not new, it’s only that people were not aware. I have been a Muslim for 
long. I even have a picture to support that. Although my name is 
Elizabeth, which is the Christian name my dad gave me because he was a 
Christian. Then, I also have a Muslim name, Aishat, given to me by my 
mother, who was a Muslim. Also, some from my mother’s family members 
also named me Sekinat. Even my daughter’s name is Rufaidat. So, I grew 
with the two religions. And being the only child of my parents, I was 
given so many names, including Egandogo, Omosolape, Akanke. My Badagry 
name is Yenukunmun, meaning Isoju ota ni nse maa se rere (I will excel 
in the presence of my enemies). In a nutshell, Islam has been in me for 
long. I only kept it to myself. It is my private life. Even during every
 Ramadan period, I give people food for fasting and also when they want 
to break the fast. I also fast. Not only that, I don’t normally expose 
my head during the period, but people don’t really read meanings to it, 
they always think my appearance has to do with a movie.”</span></span>

 Brazilian federal police are worried and are reporting that over 200 
Ghanaian citizens who came to watch the on going World Cup have 
requested asylum after entering the country on tourist visa. The 
Ghanaians are begging for Brazilian citizenship claiming that they are 
muslims fleeing inter-religious conflicts in Ghana, and have filed 
applications in the city of Caxias do Sul.<br /><br />Police reports further
 revealed that 1000 more Ghanaians are expected to request refugee 
status once the games end on Sunday July 13th! They are all believed to 
be looking for rights to work legally in the country. A police official 
who spoke on BBC said;</span></span><br />

 cannot be requested at a Brazilian embassy. The asylum seeker must be 
in the country to apply. We have hundreds of Syrian refugees in Brazil

 to this development, a Ghanaian Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has issued a
 statement denying any such religious attack. His statement reads in

 basis for this alleged request is completely false as no religious

 two-year old baby girl stolen by unidentified men from her parents’ 
home in Lagos last week Friday after a vigil has been found at the local
 wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, western Nigeria.<br /><br />The
 little girl, Mercy Osunbawo, was in captivity for five days before she 
was found at the airport at about 2: 00 a.m. on Wednesday unaccompanied 
before she was rescued and handed over to the airport police.<br /><br />It was not certain how Mercy got to the airport.<br /><br />Mercy
 was stolen in the night last week Friday by unidentified men while she 
was sleeping in between her parents at their Ejigbo home.<br /><br />The incident happened at their residence at 10, Adeite Osunbawo Street, Ejigbo, Lagos.<br />After the baby was stolen, both the parents and the police searched everywhere for her until she was found at the airport.<br /><br />The little girl was reunited with her family yesterday when the police handed her over to her parents.<br />Neighbours,
 family members and their church members gathered at the their residence
 to praise and thank God for rescuing the girl.<br /><br />The father of the
 girl, Olanrewaju Osunbawo, who confirmed the incident, was full of 
gratitude to God for the miraculous return of the child. He said he was 
still in shock about what happened.<br /><br />Osunbawo said that on the 
night the incident happened, he and members of his family had a vigil in
 their home till 2:30 a.m. before they went to sleep.<br /><br />He said the
 missing girl slept in between him and his wife on the same bed inside 
their bedroom, while four other children slept in their parlour.<br /><br />Narrating
 how they discovered that Mercy was missing, Osunbawo said his wife, 
Kemi, first woke up and started looking for the girl and she went to 
their palour where other children were sleeping and did not find her.<br /><br />He
 said Kemi immediately woke him up and informed him that Mercy was 
missing and he went to the door and discovered that the door had been 
forced open.<br /><br />The couple, who married in 2007 and have five 
children, could not explain how those who took their daughter away 
gained access to their apartment without their movement being noticed by
 any member of the family and their co-tenants.<br /><br />Apart from stealing the baby, Osunbawo said the suspects also stole their three phones and money kept in the house by his wife.<br /><br />He
 said when they called one of the phones the men stole, the call was 
picked but they refused to answer for possible negotiation and since 
then the phones have remained switched off.<br /><br />When <u><i>P.M.NEWS</i></u> visited the Airport Police Division on Thursday, the DPO was not around to comment on the matter.<br />However, a police source at the station confirmed the rescue and said Mercy was handed over to her parents.</span></span></div>

 instead I said to myself, if you have something really important to say
 then share it but if you are busy and trying to finish some other 
projects then don't force yourself to write just anything because you 
have a blog. This brings me to the topic of this message "seeking 
unnecessary approval from social media".  </span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So
 I read two devotionals today and to my surprise they were saying 
practically the same things. The first one talked about how we are 
creatures of approval. We all depend on what other people think of us 
and say about us before we evaluate ourselves.  </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The
 truth is, a lot of people wake up in the morning and the first thing 
they do is check their social media pages even before they say good 
morning to anyone. They want to see who has said what about who, and so 
many other things that are not beneficial to their lives. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">People
 now hide under the guise of  social media to give their "supreme" 
opinions about other people's affairs but can't show their faces, it has
 become the major identity of a lot of people. Human beings have sold 
their true identities by acquiring screen names to cause harm to 
others.  </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">People
 would rather sneak to private places in their offices to check out who 
is wearing what to an event and who they think is S*XIER, then they go 
on popular sites to pass judgement on others with such venom that you 
will wonder if they have even met the person. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">If you take a few steps back, you will ask yourself where our own brains and minds have gone? </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Have we become so dependent on other people's opinions that we have lost our own identities?  </span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I
 am not saying social media is bad, please don't get me wrong. But I 
fear for those who have turned it into their BIBLE and their life 
manual.  </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">We
 no longer have a mind of our own to research or question any 
information we receive. We just depend on whatever one person has sat 
down in their living rooms to construct. Then you wonder how one person 
who is not even in the same country as you, knows what happened inside 
your bathroom. Then we read it and share it, others pick up on it and 
all of a sudden it becomes the TRUTH. It goes on Google so that when the
 victims name or company name is typed, people get to see a story that 
was started by one person siting in a small cubicle with a small laptop.
 </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Some
 people have accused me of not being in tune with my fans, they have 
called me a snob they have said I don't respond instantly to messages. I
 know that when it's a direct message it's  easier  for me to respond. 
But how do I spend hours everyday responding to over a hundred thousand 
people at the same time. We all try to respond to as many as we can in a
 day but I can't possibly respond to all.  </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Contrary
 to popular beliefs by these naysayers, STELLA has a life, she has a 
family and she has work to do as well. Entertainers are not jobless 
people who sit around waiting for people to send messages so they can 
respond. Besides like I have said I am not on Facebook anymore so anyone
 expecting to hear from me there is wasting their time.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I
 don't wake up every morning and run to check twitter or Instagram. I go
 there when I can to communicate with as many people as I can, and I 
only put info or pictures out that I feel are necessary to share. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Some
 have also said that I don't have as many followers as others, that made
 me laugh a lot because they did not realize that I don't go snooping 
around to find out what others have that I don't. The fact that I have a
 group of people who are dedicated fans and follow me is more than 
enough for me to be grateful to God. I don't look around for who is 
doing what or who has what, neither do I do things because others are 
doing it.  </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Our
 destinies and purpose are totally different. So when people try to 
compare, it becomes strange for them when I respond by laughing. They 
don't understand why I don't care about too many things. I have tried to
 let people know that I have discovered the most important things in 
life and what my everyday goal is, anything outside of that is a waste 
of time and energy.  </span></span><br />

They are Nigerians and they are world class entertainers. From movies, to art and music, these Nigerians are forces to be reckoned with in their various choices of career. Tribune writes about Nigerians making waves in Hollywood.<br /><b><br />Chiwetel Ejiofor</b><br />A renowned British actor of film, television and theatre, Chiwetel Ejiofor was born in July 1977 in London to Nigerian parents. He gained a scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after he enrolled at the National Youth Theatre in 1995 and by age 19, and only three months into his course, Chiwetel was chosen by Steven Spielberg to play a small part in Amistad as James Covey.<br /><br />His archive of awards and nominations include the BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2006, five Golden Globe Award nominations and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance in Othello in 2008.<br /><br /><b>Megalyn Echikunwoke</b><br />MEGALYN Ann Echikunwoke was born in Washington, United States. She is an actress best known for her roles as Tara Price in CSI: Miami and Isabelle Tyler on The 4400.<br /><br />Her father is a Nigerian Igbo, while her mother is a German/Scots-Irish American. She has featured in many movies and TV series and she is a regular face for many movie lovers.<br /><br />Some other popular movies and TV series that Megalyn had featured in include Funny Valentines, Like Family, ER, That ‘70’s Show, Spyder Games and as Senator David Palmer’s daughter, Nicole, in 24, among a whole lot of others.<br /><br /><b>Hakeem Kae-Kazim</b><br />Having started acting as far back as the 1980s, Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a British Nigerian  actor that many Nigerians are so proud of. Born in October 1962, Hakeem is best known for his role as Georges Rutaganda in the 2004 motion picture Hotel Rwanda.<br /><br />His achievements cannot be overrated and to name a few, the movies he had featured in include Coming To America, King Solomon’s Mines, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, The Fourth Kind, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Last Flight to Abuja, among others.<br /><br />Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a recipient of many awards.<br /><br /><b>Ashley Banjo</b><br />BORN in London to a Nigerian father and an English mother, Ashley Modurotolu Banjo is an English street dancer, television presenter, chorographer and an actor.<br /><br />The 26-year-old is the leader of the dance troupe, Diversity, which won the third series of the Britain’s Got Talent show. A resident judge on the talent show Got to Dance, Ashley grew up in Wickford, Essex, and, according to him, “from the age of 14, I started to teach myself routines.”<br /><br />Ashley Banjo is an official ambassador of the United Dance Organisation and his dance troupe, Diversity, performed before Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Variety Show in 2009. He has featured in many movies such as Street Dance.<br /><br /><b>Obba Babatundé</b><br />A veteran entertainer, Babatunde has been in Hollywood as long as many could remember. From his recurring roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, to Undercover Blues, Chicago Hope, Static Shock, he is a talent that has withstood the foreign entertainment scene for decades.<br /><br />Born in December 1951 in Jamaica, Queens, New York, United States, Babatunde is a dancer, singer and plays different instruments.<br /><br />He is also a director and he directed a highly acclaimed version of the Broadway Musical, Dreamgirls, which featured Carolyn Blair, in Ohio during the late 80s.<br /><br />He is also known for his role in the movie, Once in a Lifetime, a world premiere musical at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.<br /><br /><b>Sophie Okonedo</b><br />SOPHIE Okonedo began her film career in 1991. She was born in London in 1968 to an Ashkenazi Jew mother and a Nigerian father, Henry Okonedo.<br /><br />Sophie had worked in such a wide variety of media, including film, television, theatre and audio drama that trying to list the number of movies she has featured in could be a hard task.<br /><br />To name a few, she played the role of Tulip Jones in the film Storm Breaker and Wachati Princess in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. Sophie was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her role as Tatiana Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda and also nominated for a Golden Globe for a Lead Actress in a mini-series for her work in Tsunami: The Aftermath.<br /><br />She acted alongside Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning in the film The Secret Life of Bees, while she portrayed Winnie Mandela in the BBC drama, Mrs Mandela in January 2010.

Out of contract Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has given conditions that would make him consider if he will continue as coach of the national team.<br /><br />Keshi who led Nigeria to yet another round of 16 finish at the world cup after 20 years, revealed that he was ready to move on, if he was not given better conditions to work as Nigerian coach. He added that he has several offers including that of South Africa, which, according to him is most likely to happen.<br /><br />He submitted that he would very much love to continue with the “Nigerian project” he has started: “But  if the offer isn’t good enough for me, then I will explore other options and possibly move on to another challenge. (Photo by Clive Mason - FIFA/FIFA<br /><br />However, in considering the Nigerian job, Keshi said that there must have to be changes in the way the Nigerian Football Federation relates to coaches under it’s employ.<br /><br />“Well for starters, my previous contract was never respected. I was paying one of my assistants (Valere Houandonou) for over a year, my former assistant Sylvanus Okpala was sacked without my consent and those things just never made sense.<br /><br />“I mean Nigeria is my country and I love my country, but I’m out of contract now so I have to move on. I have spent over two years as coach of Nigeria, and Nigeria flows in my veins but I just have to move on.<br />“If the offer comes, we will sit down and talk and if there’s something concrete, then we’ll see how it goes.  I have several offers but it’s South Africa that have been very vocal about their offer, so that’s the way it is.<br /><br />“ I’ve given my heart to Nigeria, I have done it for the country for years. I played as a captain of the national team for 14years so this isn’t about heart anymore. It’s now about professionalism, I am a professional football coach and that is all I do. I have kids in the university that I have to feed and I can’t do that by ‘heart’. Doing the ‘heart’ thing cannot work anymore, because that isn’t going to put food on my table,” Keshi quipped as he chatted with SL10.</div>

This happened this afternoon, An Okada rider and his 2 male passengers were crushed to death this afternoon at Awoyaya bus-stop  along the Lekki-Epe Express way in Lagos as they were being chased by a police van.<br /><br />While trying to escape from the police who were chasing them to seize their bike for riding on the express, the Okada, which was in high speed, collided with a BRT bus that crushed them to death.<br /><br />According to an eye-witness, area boys gathered and burnt the police van.
